Student Achievements - Edition 1 - 2022

Mattias McCarthy (Year 12 Jeffries) had some amazing results in the 2022 State Swimming Championships that were held recently. Mattias swam in seven events and ended up with four Gold in 200m and 400m freestyle as well as the 50m and 100m butterfly events. He also achieved three Silver medals. Mattias will now compete in the Australian leg of the 2022 Para Swimming world series held in February in Melbourne.

Angus Hincksman (Year 11 Woollacott) has been altitude training with the National Para team in Perisher. Angus competed in the ACT State Championships and in his heat he ran against Daniel Bounty (Tokyo Paralympian). Angus not only beat Daniel, he also came away with another Australian T38 1500m U20/U17 record as well as T38 Open/U20 & U17 SA state records.

Congratulations to Javon Brijmohan (Year 11 Kelly) who competed in and won the men's 120m Bay Sheffield sprint at the end of December. Javon's final was thrilling, with a photo finish being analysed for over five minutes before Javon was announced as the winner!
