Kym Purling (’89) - Live in Concert at Sea and on Land

Kym is a former Westminster Music student who has made a name for himself internationally as a jazz pianist and music director. If you haven’t yet heard Kim play, he truly is a superb musician. His upcoming Adelaide concert is 2.00 pm Sunday 24 March at the Morialta Uniting Church, where his parents, former School Chaplain Rev David Purling and Judith Purling attend. Tickets can be booked through www.trybooking.com/BARFX

Performance notes: Kym will present two contrasting shows that he has previously only performed at sea. One half of this concert will feature Kym in the jazz trio format with bass and drums playing original and inventive arrangements of standard material. The other half of the concert will feature a sextet with the trio and three horns playing new and refreshing original jazz-influenced interpretations of a wide variety of popular material. All proceeds of this concert will go to fund Morialta Uniting Church charity projects and Kym's own ongoing humanitarian projects funding orphanages and programs for children in Vietnam and Nepal.

WOSA Survey

After an extension to ensure we attracted as many responses as possible, our WOSA survey is now closed. On behalf of WOSA President Ian Hardwick (‘00) and the WOSA committee, we thank you for your input. This will go a long way as we take on board your thoughts as to what we should and could offer Westminster Old Scholars. We have the matter of some wine to share amongst selected respondents and we’ll report this in the next eNews. In the meantime, we’ll be contacting those who come up trumps to make sure they receive some Mr Riggs wine.

Vale Udo Joschke

It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of former staff member Udo Joschke, Friday 1 March 2019. Udo was at Westminster as Head of LOTE from 2014 to 2017. Our thoughts are with Udo’s wife Gill, son Kurt (’05) and family at this time.
