A Uniting Church coeducational independent day and boarding school on Kaurna Country, Adelaide, South Australia
Early Learning to Year 12
Our 2020 Reunion program is about to commence. First up in the Class of 2010 10 Year Reunion on Saturday 29 February, which will start at the School at 10.30 am and end up for lunch at Serafino Winery in McLaren Vale. It’s looking like a great day out! Bookings close this week so if you haven’t secured a place, now is the time to do so: https://www.trybooking.com/BHYFV. Next we have the Class of 2015 5 Year Reunion, which will be a paella and drinks night at the Sturt Grove Farm on Friday 20 March, 6.00 to 8.00 pm. As a double up, we will also be belatedly celebrating the Class of 2014 5 Year Reunion, which was cancelled last year due to unforeseen circumstances. Invitations to both years will be distributed in the coming week. We then have a break until May and June when there will be a number of reunions to celebrate – stay tuned!
Already I’m being asked when this magnificent event will be held so here we are: Friday 1 May at The Vines in Reynella. Registration forms will soon be available so get your (up to) foursome together to be ‘seen in and on the green’ at another sensational Westminster Golf Day.
In a break from the city tradition, we are going to return to our roots where it all began, well, for some of us at least. This year’s Annual Dinner will be held at the new look Marion Hotel on Friday 7 August. It’s pretty impressive and a far cry from the old Parents’ and Friends’ dinner dance venue. However, the Westminster spirit is soaked into the very foundations of the Marion so we hope you will join us to celebrate another great year of being a Westminster Old Scholar.
On Friday 14 February, the inaugural Old Scholars vs First XI cricket match was held. It was a 100 ball competition and both teams played superbly and marked up some memorable moments such as Alex Reardon (’17) being dismissed by younger brother Thomas (Year 12). It was a ’Valentine’s Victory’ for the Old Scholars although the final score was tossed like the legendary ashes into the wind. What was important was the camaraderie and appreciation for the game that clearly existed between both teams. After the First XI has graduated, they will no doubt continue to play as Old Scholars in what we plan to become an annual event.
