Vale Robert Xu (’03)

Dux of 2003, Robert Xu, passed away on Thursday 7 November 2019 at the Victoria Dock in Hobart, where he drowned. Robert had completed his junior surgical training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and was training in cardiothoracic surgery at the Epworth Hospital in Richmond, Victoria. He is being remembered by his peers in the medical profession as a talented and dedicated practitioner. Our thoughts are with Robert’s parents Roger (Ruo-jun) Xu and Shuhua Zhang, brother Louis Xu (’10), also School Dux of his year, and family during this time of sadness.

WOS Football Club – New Coach Appointed!

An (abridged) message from the WOSFC Vice President, Jeremy Satchell:

On behalf of the Committee of the Dragons, we're pleased to announce the appointment of a familiar face in Paul Sherwood as A-grade coach for season 2020. Paul previously coached the side for three years, including the back-to-back 2013 and 2014 flags. Since leaving the Dragons, Paul has coached Angaston and, most recently, was an assistant coach for the 2019 SANFL Premiers Glenelg. Paul’s experience as a player includes 190 games for the Bays, great knowledge of the game and building strong relationships with players. It says a lot for the culture of a footy club when it can help people take the next step to bigger challenges - it says twice as much when a person of these credentials is excited to return. Please join us in congratulating Paul and welcoming his family back to the Dragons! Whilst on it, we are very pleased to confirm that Brett Caldwell (’11) is going around again as Reserves Coach for 2020. Brett is as motivated as ever to see more success in the reserves and with the early work being done on recruiting, we think we are very well positioned for a great 2020.
