Unfortunately Golf Day did not proceed this year as we did not have enough teams register to make it viable. The good news is we have moved it back into autumn and it will be held at The Vines Golf Club on Friday 5 April 2019, 12 noon tee off. Save the date now and start working on your team!
Nice to see Bert Pohl (’92) drop in to Westminster while on holidays from Arkansaw, USA, where he now resides with his family. Bert works in IT but has spent the last 20 years moving around to include years in the UK, Canada as well as the US.
We have our biennial Queensland Dinner scheduled for Friday 2 November at 7.00 pm at Bitter Suite in New Farm, Brisbane. The invitation can be downloaded below, but please RSVP to myself as I will be attending as your host. This dinner completes the cycle of 2018 Old Scholar Reunions.
The annual get together of the Boarder Parents’ Association was held in Wallaroo last weekend. It was a fantastic weekend with over 50 in attendance, including a number of Old Scholar parents. No other school has a weekend quite like our Westminster Boarder Parents’ Weekend. Next year’s event is anticipated to be in the Flinders Ranges, possibly Quorn, and we will, of course, invite our Old Scholars and community who live in that area to join us for the Saturday evening dinner, Saturday 19 October.
As we are seeing around South Australia, local government elections are being held across the state and legendary member of our School community standing for election is Rosie Aust, mother of Martin (’99) and Jessica ('02). Rosie has been an active member of the Westminster community for the last 25 years, being a former member of both the School Council and Foundation, President of Parents and Friends/Friends of Westminster, as well as a former Westminster staff member. Rosie is the only serving female councillor in Glenelg Ward in the City of Holdfast Bay Council and is standing again for election. If you are in Rosie’s ward, you are invited to contact her to share thoughts concerning her role on Council, M: 0409 869 690, E: firstname.lastname@example.org or check out her Facebook page Rosie Aust in Glenelg.
As we have a very active School community, there are certain to be other members of our community standing for local government election. To those of you seeking election, no matter where in South Australia you are standing, we wish each of you all the very best!
We have just launched our new Old Scholar website that complements the new School website, so our eNews article may look a little different to the last one you saw. Our new website provides a list of reunions that are scheduled for next year. Check them out at the link below.
