60th Anniversary Celebration Assembly

On Friday 12 February, at 10.00 am, we will be holding a special commemorative Assembly to mark 60 years to the day that Westminster School was officially opened. An invitation has been extended to the School community to attend. We have had to limit our capacity in the Murray Centre for Performing Arts and while seats are being reserved steadily for this free event, there are some still available. We are expecting some special surprise guests to be in attendance. Following the Assembly, there will be a light morning tea and an opportunity to tour our new Inquiry and Innovation Hub and Thomas Pavilion. You can reserve tickets via this link: www.westminster.school/anniversary-opening-rsvp.

60th Anniversary of the First Day of School

On Tuesday 7 February 1961, Westminster School opened its doors to 143 boys in Years 1 to 8 (equivalent). The 7th of February falls on a Sunday this year and at this time we pay our respect to our Foundation students who were there on that first day of School. These Old Scholars, who can be found in the Classes of 1965 to 1972, are forever recorded in the School’s history. We will be proudly acknowledging our Foundation Old Scholars and Foundation staff at this Celebration Assembly.

Share a Story

As a heads-up, we’re adding a new alumni section to our website and as valued members of our School community, we would love to hear updates and stories from our Old Scholars. We are encouraging you to share a reflection piece and maybe a photo or two of your time at Westminster, your journey post your time here or where your career has taken you. This link will be shared when this section is made live. There are many great stories we would love to share, no matter where in the world you might be.

Reunions

After a sparse 2020, we are again ready to tackle our reunion program in 2021. Not wanting to leave anyone out, we will use 2021 to catch up our program in a series of double-up reunions. Consequently, and taking into account any current restrictions, we will be approaching the reunions in a slightly different way. A little closer to each reunion, starting with the 5 Year Reunion (for three years) at the Sturt Grove Farm, we will release details, according to prevailing conditions, as to where, when and what format. Our fingers remain crossed that we can host these reunions throughout the year.

Valete

We were saddened to learn that Peter Henricks (’77) passed away last week, following an extended illness. During his successful career in finance, Peter had lived in a number of different locations around the world and we understand there will be memorial services held in at least Hong Kong and London. With the Henricks family’s approval, we will be holding a memorial service in the morning of Saturday 27 February in the Sir Shirley Jeffries Memorial Chapel. Further details will follow as they are confirmed. Our condolences are with Pete’s family - parents Julie Henricks and Geoff Henricks, and his sister Amanda Henricks.

We learned with sadness that Geoffrey Cox (‘66) passed away just after the New Year. Our condolences are with Geoffrey’s family.
