Inclusion criteria for this group includes students (Years 6 to 12) in pre-elite/elite training programs, as defined by:
Eligible students should apply via our High Performance Program Application Form whenever they meet the above criteria. Group members are invited and expected to attend a program of High Performance Seminar/Workshops with leading sporting industry professionals and mentors.
Additionally, they can access assistance with overall load management and if necessary, referrals to external service providers to ensure best case-management. Some HP athletes will establish a load-management monitoring system to organise their training and study commitments. Other program resources include setting up flexible study options (e.g. via Marden College Workplace Practices Course); and athlete-specific resources as sourced by the Heads of Sport (e.g. personal excellence career providers).
Athletes accepted into the WHPP program are expected to attend school-based strength and conditioning sessions conducted by our strength and conditioning coaches. Exceptions are made for students adhering to external high-quality programs, after discussion and approval from either Mike Martens or Tim Weatherald.
The WHPP is aimed at students who will compete in their chosen sport(s) in the high performance pathway post-school, or professionally. As such, athletes may undergo periodic testing in gym and conditioning sessions to track progress and ensure athletes are improving in line with their goals.
All student athletes are expected to lead by example in the Westminster School environment and exemplify high performance behaviour on and off the field/court.
The following workshops will be held as part of the WHPP for 2020.
