Early Learning to Year 12
Identical twins, Sam Blyzno (Year 10 Jeffries) and Tim Blyzno (Year 10 Jeffries), now have identical gold medals - World Championship gold medals! The superstar sixteen-year-old athletes represented Grange SLSC in the World Under 19 Youth team. The boys each ran a leg for the relay team that took the world title on the sands of Glenelg beach last week.
They joined two other Western Area Sprint Athletes to take on the world against older under 19 athletes. After four tightly contested legs, the Grange team won it at the line by the smallest of margins. They could only celebrate after the photo finish revealed the result!
The gym floor was not a friendly place to be if you were a spectator last Friday. Balls were bombarding everywhere as we hosted eight Pembroke teams for Intercol volleyball. Most folks figured it was better viewing in the seats above the gym, out of the line of fire. Westminster supporters were treated to a clean sweep of our rivals by the Open A and B girls, the Open A, B1, and B2 boys, and the Middle A, B1 and B2 boys. It wasn’t easy. The Open A Boys and Girls matches went back and forth and they could have gone either way. There was plenty of tension and emotion and the matches were great to watch. The girls won their third straight Intercol and the boys added to their streak of never losing an Intercol. Congratulations to Pembroke for their great play and sportsmanship.
