2020 Year 11 Work Experience

Students will have the opportunity to do work experience after the end of year exams this year, in the week commencing Monday 30 November. It is not compulsory for students to complete work experience at this time, but it is a wonderful opportunity to gain an insight to the world of work. Students can do between two and five days total; they could do two days in one place and two days in another- it is very flexible. Just a reminder that the Workplace Learning Agreement Form and Safety Checklist need to be completed.

2021 Year 11 Work Experience

Information has been emailed to all current Year 10 students and parents. Work experience will commence with Careers Day on Monday 21 June and Work Experience will be from Tuesday 22 to Friday 25 June. I have put copies of past placements in SEQTA for ideas.

Careers Event March 2021 - well worth a visit!

The 12th annual Tertiary Studies & Careers Expo will this year incorporate the South Australia Work and Skills Expo. It is being held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Saturday 28 and Monday 29 March 2021. This is a free event and is well worth heading along to. You can book into seminars as well as checking out the exhibits.

Year 12 Important Dates

Year 12 results will be available on Tuesday 15 December. Results will be available from 8.30 am on the SACE website and certificates will also be mailed out. If you have changed you address you must notify SACE and SATAC as soon as possible.

To get your results from the website, go to https://www.sace.sa.edu.au/ and choose students and families - results - students online. You need your registration number and pin. If you have already been on to this site you would have had to change your pin - check it now. If not, your pin number is the first four digits of your date of birth: DD/MM eg 1st May: 0105. I will be at school on the day you receive the results, if you would like to discuss options for Tertiary study.

If you are unable to come into school or if you just want to have a chat over the phone, you are welcome to ring me. At school, my direct line is T: 8276 0354 or you can call me on my mobile M: 0438 703 298. I am always happy to take calls in the holidays so don’t hesitate to ring if the need arises. NB TES or Tertiary Entrance Statement/ATAR will be posted on the same day as the SACE results. You will also receive your Tertiary Selection rank which is your adjusted score. This is your ATAR plus adjustment factors. Your section rank will be higher than your recorded ATAR once the adjustment factors have been applied.

SATAC: Change of preferences

The deadline to include most new courses at university is Tuesday 12 December. The deadline for change of preference order for university entrance is Thursday 7 January 2021 at 5.00 pm. I suggest that if you want to change a preference you do it before this time as servers can go down if too many are trying to access at the same time. Make sure that your preferences are listed in the order of your choice, not in descending order of cut offs. Your offers will be based on the fact that your first preference is your most desired and so on. Make sure you have a safety net just in case you need it, such as a sixth preference you are happy to do and which will be a pathway to your chosen course. In addition, those wanting STEM courses at the University of Adelaide can also be admitted on the basis of their subjects if ATAR is not be sufficient. Don’t forget that there are also some excellent TAFE courses that also articulate to university courses.

To change preferences, go to www.satac.edu.au, click on University Undergraduate - My Application. Go to Services and choose Change of Preference. You need either your username or your SATAC reference number and your pin. Before you submit your changes, make sure you save the changes or they will not be recorded. Any change made after this time will not receive equal consideration. Interstate dates for change of preference vary; please check the individual websites for more information.

Congratulations to those students who have already received an early offer.

Whatever your result, do not change your first preference if this is your dream. Selection ranks change from year to year depending on supply and demand. Just make sure you have some lower preferences that provide pathways. Reminder! If you have an Education preference for any university, you need to submit your Teaching Capabilities Statement.

If you have any queries about any of this information please do not hesitate to contact me either email or phone.
