We welcome Westminster Olympic Coach Lauren Soderberg, who has been appointed as our new Head of Sport Development and High Performance. Lauren’s role is to develop both the performance and participation streams of sport from Reception to Year 12, and continually introduce improvements to the quality of our sport program content and delivery. Qualified with a B.Human Movement, Lauren previously coached the Australian Beach Volleyball Team (Artacho/Laird) at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and has been an international high performance coach for over 10 years, collecting 23 times international senior medals, including 11 for Gold medal performances and an U23 World Junior Championship. Previous to working with Australia, Lauren was the Head Coach of the Vanuatu National Beach Volleyball team, taking the Pacific nation from 350th in the world to a top 10 finish at the 2013 World Championships, as well as numerous podium finishes. Lauren's other experience includes Pathway Manager for Volleyball Australia to oversee talent identification and case management of athletes throughout their schooling years and when they transition into senior level elite athletes. In addition, as International Sports Diplomacy Officer for Volleyball Australia, Lauren managed Sport for Development projects, partnering with Dept of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in country organisations throughout the Asia/Pacific Region to deliver sport for positive social change. Lauren is well underway and making great suggestions for the program.

Lauren’s appointment, along with Head of Senior Sport Mike Martens and Sports Administration Coordinator Marianne Collier, Tim Weatherald, joining us in the Preparatory School, and our Strength and Conditioning Coach Gerard Dutton running the Golden Keys Training Centre, the sport team and program are looking very strong for 2019!

There will be an updated version of the Sport handbook released at the beginning of Term 1 2019.
