The Friends of Westminster AGM

While our first meeting for some months proceeded on Monday 10 August, the FoW committee decided that the AGM would be deferred to the next meeting planned for 7.00 pm on Monday 14 September. It is hoped that we will be able to hold this meeting in the new Inquiry and Innovation Hub and include a tour of this incredible new facility. We will provide further information in the next eNews about exactly where to meet.

In the meantime, we are keen to have a Secretary for the Friends of Westminster to join our executive committee. If you are interested in helping out, please do not hesitate to contact me or Communications Manager Peter Trenorden (’77), E: ptrenorden@westminster.sa.edu.au or T: 08 8276 0234.

As our community groups are slowly coming out of hibernation, we are keen to make sure that we have firmed up a direction for what we would like FoW to do for the School and within our community. To this end, we welcome your ideas to make FoW relevant and enjoyable and be seen as an important way for families and friends to get to know each other through their Westminster connections.

Fun Fair 2021

We are continuing to plan for the School Fun Fair 2021, which is expected to be Saturday 13 March, possibly Saturday 20 March. With Easter causing Term 1 to be rearranged to some extent, it is a little earlier than usual but we are keen to make sure we are prepared for our 60th Anniversary Fun Fair. The Fun Fair Convenor’s role has been split into two – the first being the Fun Fair Coordinator: Operations. Being no stranger to the running of the Fun Fair, current parent Shane Pope has agreed to take on this role. We thank Shane for volunteering to take this role on again and know that his experience in the structural set-up of the Fun Fair, particularly during bump-in and bump-out, will be invaluable. The second role is the Fun Fair Coordinator: Communications, which will focus on working with volunteers, schedules, stall convenors and overall project management in the lead-up from Term 4 this year. Of course, this role will work closely with Shane’s as information is shared between the two. In this role, you will have the full support of FoW and the School. If you are interested in finding out more, please don’t hesitate to contact me or Peter. You can also contact the Fun Fair Committee through FoW - E: F@westminster.sa.edu.au. Of course, all of this is subject to COVID-19 and how it might still be affecting the community – our fingers are crossed that we will be set to go in 2021!
