Jade Monkey Gig

On Thursday 26 August the annual Rock Band gig at the Jade Monkey in Flinders Street took place. This involved the Senior Jazz Ensemble, The Soul Connection, The Intermediate Rock Band and the winners of the Primary School Battle of the Bands at the end of last term, the Junior Rock band. Well done to all the students involved in this event and to all of the parents, friends and family members that came along to support the rock bands. Thanks to Darren McLachlan for running the sound at the venue.

Westminster Music Night 2021 - Diamond Jubilee Jam

This year Westminster School celebrates its 60th year. Westminster has always had a rich history in music throughout those 60 years.

To celebrate this wonderful tradition we will outline the Westminster story through music and narration by selecting various tunes that depict an era or define some of what may have been popular at the time.

The school was founded in 1961, the year the Beach Boys released Surfin’ USA. During the David Jarman era one of the most popular tunes played by the band was Neil Diamond’s epic, Sweet Caroline, and who doesn’t like Michael Jackson!

The “90’s to now” saw great changes in popular music, and this will be showcased in a medley with our choirs, string ensemble and instrumentalists.

Music Night will feature our Senior Ensembles including Vocal Jazz 1 and Vocal Jazz 2, our Senior Vocal Ensemble, the newly formed Boys Vocal Combo, Big Bands, Concert Bands and our Senior String Ensemble. We will also celebrate some of our most recent Old Scholars, instrumental staff and special guests in a great night of music.

Music Night is the major music event for the calendar year and we would be very pleased if you could join us for this very special occasion on Friday 10 September at 7.00 pm in the Michael Murray Centre.

Tickets are now on sale at www.trybooking.com/BRJJT

Special thanks to Karen Horsell for the design and construction of the 2021 Music Night poster.
