On Saturday 26 June, Kimberley Li will perform at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival as a part of the Class of Cabaret 2021. Congratulations to Kimberley who has worked hard with the other students involved to put on this performance.
William has been accepted into the State Music Camp to be held during the July school holidays this year.
Joe Huang and Shalin Bigwood took part in the Jazz SA Superband program and performed at Norwood Live last Thursday night. They were joined by high school and university students to perform in the Superbands. Well done to Joe and Shalin.
Anyone who has been to the Cabaret festival may have seen Josh Chenoweth perform with artistic director Alan Cumming. Josh performs each night with Alan and is then touring Australia with him in July.
Three Westminster connections performed as a part of the Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Australian Jazz Orchestra. The orchestras are in fact Big Bands, so there is only one instrument per part. Lachlan McGargill (’16) was 2nd Alto Saxophone in AYJO and Tom Voss, who teaches trombone at Westminster, was Lead Trombone. Alex Taylor, who also teaches at Westminster, was 2nd Trombone in the AJO. They recorded in Sydney a couple of months ago.
Thank you to all who came along to our Sing Sing Sing concert and the Winter Solstice Bandstand. We had over 1000 audience members at the combined events and it was just wonderful to play to appreciative and supportive audience members.
Thanks to all the students involved for their dedication and hard work. For many, it was the first performance of the year with lots of rehearsals to prepare for that outcome.
It was very special to see around 250 students on stage on Wednesday night who helped finish the concert with a fantastic medley of Beatles songs featuring various smaller ensembles and soloists, as well as the whole collective of choirs themselves.
Thanks to the music staff for their tireless efforts in putting on these 2 major events last week.
