Our 'Let’s Dance' Co-curricular Dance Performances were held on Sunday 18 and Tuesday 20 October for our Prep and Senior Students respectively. These performances provided opportunity for the Westminster Community to come together and celebrate the learning that has occurred through the co-curricular dance program this year. Students performed in a broad range of genres including Ballet, Jazz, Acrobatics, Indigenous Contemporary, Creative and Contemporary dance, complementing and extending experiences gained through the curriculum dance program.
This year the performing arts both at an amateur and professional level have faced challenges due to COVID-19. We have seen dance companies take class separately, from their homes and professional performances cease. We feel grateful to have been able to hold co-curricular dance performances at Westminster School in 2020 and we thank all those who have been able to join us in this celebration of dance.
Congratulations go to the dance students from Years 2 – 12 for their commitment to classes this year and their excellent performances.
Thanks go to the theatre technicians, technical crew and our co-curricular dance tutors, Kirsty Battersby, Jo Curren, Hayley Kollevris, Jessie McKinlay and Adrianne Semmens, for their passion and creativity. Carolyn and I are grateful to have such a wonderful team who share our commitment to providing outstanding dance education for Westminster students.
Whilst Senior co-curricular dance classes have concluded for the year, Preparatory classes continue until the end of Week 7. Nomination for 2021 co-curricular dance classes will take place at the start of next year. We look forward to welcoming new and returning dance students.
