A Uniting Church coeducational independent day and boarding school on Kaurna Country, Adelaide, South Australia
Early Learning to Year 12
Welcome to 2019. The last six months has flown as I have come to grips with daily life at Westminster School. As a parent and employee of the School, I am overwhelmed with the volume of activity that flows throughout our campus and classrooms. We aren't just a community, but a living and breathing small village!
I hit the ground running last year as we prepared for our Campus Masterplan launch and built a new website. We love the new site (particularly its mobile friendly layout) and are enjoying seeing the increase in people using the site from both current and new users.
I returned to work the first week of January as the 400 Block was being busily prepped for the demolition. Watching the area be decommissioned, took me back to my days in the mid 80's in the Home Economics block, which I recall being relatively cutting edge at the time! Throughout the heat of January we eagerly anticipated the demolition day. We are nearly there with the site currently being cleared for a building start and we will be capturing the new builds via time-lapse photography. Thanks to the great partnership of Airborne Data Acquisition - Commercial Drone Services, we have captured some outstanding aerial shots of before and after demolition.
Over the last five years, the School Community has generously given to the School Foundation to kick start our Science facilities within the Inquiry and Innovation Hub. We will continue to raise money for the whole Campus Masterplan development but look forward to launching some exciting initiatives later this year which we believe will appeal to our community passion points. I thank you sincerely in advance for the donations to the Voluntary Building Fund and your ongoing support of annual giving.
Finally, the Development team have been busy working on a new School app which we softly launched last night. We have only recently acquired it so it is a work in progress, but we hope that this year we will begin to weave it into daily communications so it becomes a one stop shop for all Westminster related information (including a launching pad for SEQTA). Please be patient as we begin to move our comms into a more "parent friendly" device. We will commence with the basics such as eNews notifications, a launching pad for SEQTA and frequently used numbers for the School including the absentee lines. We hope to have a full integrated calendar, co-curricular communications (including updates on fixtures), and eventually the option to pay school fees and buy uniform items online.
Some key dates to put in the diary for this year
Women of Westminster Mothers' Day Lunch - Friday 10 May
Golden Keys Lunch (limited spaces available) - September (Date TBC)
Westminster Ball, Adelaide Oval - Saturday 26 October
Have a great term!
