Scholarships

Each year Westminster School offers a broad range of general excellence and academic scholarships to both new and continuing students. Scholarships provide partial fee remission for tuition or boarding fees to the successful candidates.

Scholarships recognise achievement in the areas of academic endeavour, sport, performing arts, service and leadership. We invite applications from individuals with outstanding character who have a desire and capacity to make a valued contribution to the School community.

Applications for our 2022 entry Scholarships are currently closed and will re-open in September 2020.

All scholarships listed below are for the year level your child will be in 2021.

Year 6 All-Rounder Scholarship

Available to new students entering the School in Year 6 2022. Recipients will be able to demonstrate all-round excellence in academic and co-curricular pursuits, including sport, performing arts, service and leadership.

Application: Online submission and interview for short-listed candidates
Value: 30% of tuition fees per annum from Year 6 until the end of Year 12

Year 7 Croser All-Rounder Scholarships

Available to new students entering Year 7 2022. Recipients will display all-round excellence in academic and co-curricular pursuits, including sport, performing arts, service and leadership.

Application: Online submission and interview for shortlisted candidates
Value: 50% remission of tuition fees per annum from Year 7 until the end of Year 12

School Council Scholarship

Awarded only to an existing Westminster Preparatory School student entering Year 7 in 2022. The recipient will display all-round excellence in academic and co-curricular pursuits, including sport, performing arts, service and leadership.

Assessment: Online submission and interview for shortlisted candidates
Value: 25% remission of tuition fees per annum from Year 7 to Year 12

Fricker Performing Arts Scholarship

Awarded annually to a new or existing student entering Year 7 2022 at Westminster School. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a willingness and capacity to make a significant contribution to Performing Arts in one or more of the following disciplines: Music, Drama or Dance.

Criteria: Fricker Performing Arts Scholarship Criteria

Value: 50% remission of tuition fees per annum from Year 7 to 12.

Old Scholars’ Scholarship

Available to new or existing students entering Year 10 at Westminster School in 2022. The student must be the child or grandchild of an Old Scholar. The recipient will possess outstanding personal qualities and ability in both the academic and co-curricular areas. The intention is that any family can benefit only once from this scholarship.

Assessment: Online submission and interview for shortlisted candidates
Value: 30% remission of tuition fees per annum for Years 10 - 12

Robert Fraser All-Rounder Scholarship

Awarded to new students entering Year 10 or 11 at Westminster School. The recipients will display all-round excellence in academic and co-curricular pursuits, including sport, performing arts, service and leadership.

Application process: Online submission and interview for shortlisted candidates
Value: 50% remission of tuition fees per annum until the end of Year 12

Lawrence and Haese Scholarship for Mathematics

Available to new students entering Year 10 or 11 2022. Recipients must be students who excel in Mathematics and who fulfil pre-determined criteria such as test results, performance in competitions and a selection interview. Scholarship holders must study the two highest units of Mathematics at Year 12 and a sufficient all-round ability to make the most of their opportunities at Westminster.

Value: 50% remission of tuition fees per annum from Year 10 or 11 until the end of Year 12

Boarding Scholarships

The Clifford Boomsma Boarding Scholarship is awarded each year to new boarding students entering Years 7 to 10 at Westminster School in 2022. The recipients will be all-rounders who display outstanding personal qualities and ability, in both the academic and co-curricular areas. One of the scholarships is reserved for a son or daughter of an ICPA (Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association of Australia) member.

Application process: Online submission and interview for short-listed candidates
Value: 50% remission of the boarding fees (excluding tuition) per annum until the end of Year 12

Indigenous Youth Leadership Project (IYLP)

This initiative is funded by the Australian Government.

The IYLP offers scholarships and leadership opportunities to young Indigenous Australians, with a focus on youth from remote and regional communities with funding support through the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

In addition to helping Indigenous students achieve their educational aspirations, the IYLP supports the development of positive role models and leaders to inspire other Indigenous students.

  • The Smith Family, in conjunction with Westminster School, invites applications for boarding. Places are open to students entering Years 8 to 12 in 2021.
  • Applications are sent directly to The Smith Family where they will be short-listed for further consideration.
  • If successful in the next stage of the application process, a face-to-face interview will be held at Westminster School with the IYLP Manager.
